On February 26, 2010 Anna Finney was awarded the Vera and Göran Agnekil Grant for younger artists at The Royal Academy of Arts.

"Anna Finney receives the Vera and Göran Agnekil Grant for her both powerful and subtle painting, which depicts people - predominantly men - on the border lands of existence. It is hardly social indignation that one experiences at first encounter with these pictures, but rather a world void of all other meaning than existence itself, darkness and light co-existing. In her painting the boundaries of the representative picture are once more widened. The lonely figures represent only themselves, they radiate an untouchability of an almost sacral nature."
